SmartDV Technologies India Private Limited was founded in 2007 by experienced ASIC design professionals Deepak Kumar Tala, Durga Lakshmi Tala, and Kavitha Tala Haridoss. The company was incorporated in India in 2010 and has since expanded operations to North America (2018) and China (2022), with sales and customer support operations in key regions around the globe.

SmartDV offers an extensive and broad portfolio of semiconductor design intellectual property (IP) products and verification solutions spanning 5G, aerospace and defense, automotive, mobile, networking, serial bus, storage, and video/display. Hundreds of chip designers trust SmartDV for proven, trusted, off-the-shelf IP that they can easily integrate into their SoCs, ASICs, and FPGAs—but our key differentiator is our ability to quickly and reliably customize IP to meet unique design challenges.

The research and development division at SmartDV employs more than 350 experienced ASIC, FPGA, and SoC design and verification engineers, each of whom specializes in certain protocols and maintains close ties to industry standards bodies. Our highly skilled R&D team works closely with our global application engineering team to provide responsive, proactive, 24/7 technical support to customers, regardless of where they are physically located. Beyond routine support, SmartDV’s experts are equipped to handle the integration of a selection of our IPs prior to delivery, in order to further smooth the way for our users.

Looking Back

2007

Deepak Kumar Tala, Durga Lakshmi Tala, and Kavitha Tala engineer a powerful compiler technology that will later evolve into SmartCompiler as we know it today. They begin to create verification IP and quickly develop a robust portfolio.

2010

Recognizing the power of their compiler technology and the quality of the VIP they are creating, our founders incorporate the company as SmartDV Technologies and begin licensing their IP to customers around the world.

2018

Having established a healthy customer base in VIP, our company now expands—in two directions. On the technological side, we begin to create and license design IP. In a physical sense, we open a North American headquarters in San Jose, California.

2021

SmartDV doubles sales for the second year in a row.

2022

Our global business continues to expand to over 300 global customers. To better serve the Asia Pacific region, we open a new office in China.

Looking Forward

2023

Under construction: a brand new SmartDV location in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, India. This facility will accommodate ~3000 engineers.

2024

Expansion into Analog IP—PHY technology from SmartDV is coming soon!
