CAN Controller
Design IP
Overview

SmartDV’s CAN (Controller Area Network) Controller IP is a silicon-proven solution designed for reliable, real-time communication across automotive, industrial, and embedded systems. Fully compliant with ISO 11898 standards, the IP supports Classical CAN, CAN FD, and optionally CAN XL, enabling a scalable path from legacy networks to next-generation high-bandwidth automotive architectures.

Designed for flexibility, the IP core is highly configurable to meet specific design requirements, supporting both ASIC and FPGA implementations while optimizing for area, power, and performance.

SmartDV also offers ASIL-ready variants to meet ISO 26262 functional safety requirements, making this IP ideal for safety-critical automotive applications. With support for features such as advanced error handling, time-triggered transmission, message filtering, and flexible buffering, the CAN Controller IP ensures dependable communication across even the most demanding networks.
